What Up!

I just hooked up my MPC2500 to my Studio Monitors and it sounds great, but when I hook up my computer to the Monitors my MPC signal or volume seems to be lower. When I unhook the cables from the computer to the monitors the MPC signal seems to be fine. What's the problem, do I need a mixer or amp for the signal first or what?

Here's my hook up:
I have my MPC 1/4" outputs to my Monitors (MACKIE MR8) 1/4" inputs.
Then I have a cable from the back of my computer (Stereo mini (1/8 in.) male to two RCA) to the Monitors.

Peace.

welcome to the forums,

check the manual of the mackie speakers and see if they allow the use of both inputs at the same time.
some speakers have more than one input to fit different user scenarios, but only one of them should be used at a time.
if this is the case you either need a mixer or get an external audiointerface which acts as a mixer for your different sound sources.
for now you can use the following workaround if you have the right cables: connect your pc out to the mpc in and the mpc to the speakers and then use the input thru function on the mpc to hear your pc.

peace, jo
