Sample drop out is a hardware issue

I got my mpc 1000 back from repair and it's repaired: no more sample drop outs. They have put in a new main board (mother board?).
I had bad hopes they would even try to fix it but I guess they saw on their meters something was wrong.

Get details!! unless the Mobo swap cured it by chance.

how much did u have to pay to get this problem fixed? does this also help the mpc1000 playback samples more consistantly? i noticed when i record a sequence into my software audio editor there is slight differences in the samples every time, even though its playing the same 1 bar loop repeatedly.

I don't have any technical details I brought it back to the music store and they sent it to some repair centre here in Holland. The only reason they told there was something wrong with the main board is because I had to wait almost 4 months for that thing.

Nothing, I have a one year warranty on the mpc 1000. I can't check your problem with sample differences because I returned the mpc 1000 to the shop again today. There's something wrong with the cf card reader. What do you mean by differences. Difference in sound or difference in timing?

actually, both.
if u look at the .WAV image u can see differences in the envelope and volume even if the MPC is just playing back a single sound, like a solo'd kickdrum for example.

That's interesting. I once did a test by recording a sequence from the midi out of the mpc 1000 into another sequencer without using the midi clock. It was a one bar pattern but the beats were never on the same place, with a deviation of 2 ticks.
Maybe there's a build in ramdomnizer in the mpc to simulate the irregularities of a human drummer.

as for wav differences.... grab your triton, another sampler or any sample-based synth...and do you test? you will notice a slight difference in the wav shapes as well... as for timing.... thats another story.

madcap: sorry dude , i did this with my MPC2000 and it wasent randomly modulating the samples the way the '1000 does. It definitely was not EXACTLY the same everytime the sample was triggered, but it was very consistant and not an obvious difference from hit to hit.
im not trying to get into "the '2000 is better", im just using that as an example cause that was the only hardware sampler ive used other than the '1000.
