Recording in MPC 5000 or PC

Whatsup guys,

Im using a Stanton turntable to convert my LP's to MP3 on my PC.
Now that i got my MPC5000, i record it directly into my MPC.

How do you (pro)guys do it ? Do you also record it directly into the MPC or you prefer to mix the song first on your PC/MAC and then mess with it on your MPC?

While im opening this thread, i would like to ask y'all if you guys know why my MPC will only let me record a couple of seconds of my LP and than stops?

1) straight to the mp
2) in record mode the default setting is set to 10 sec record time, you can change it to whatever your ram allows by highliting and turning the jog wheel, (the big spinny knob)
