Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By pawel13 Mon Sep 06, 2010 1:25 pm
Welcome
So I am the holder of the 4000th MPC
And I have such problems with it:

1.How to make the sound was played to the end, even after releasing the pad?
2.How to hook the turntable to the MPC, because I like trying the L and R, the sound is not recorded (and I do not know what I select AUDIO IN, AUDIO OUT, etc?) And heard a very loud popping noise and music and law at all?
And when I try to write only for 1.5 minutes, how to fix it (hard drive has 80 GB of which 75 are free)?
3.How can I do to BAR's shift the length of sample (not by first selecting the number of bars?)
4.How can I do to, for example, pressing the pad all the time at which sound is recorded (hi hat) was a looping, while recording?
5.How could somehow sample the stove to rip CDs to your hard disk MPC?
6.Is a chance to cut and store samples, which is located on your hard disk / CD in the MPC?
7.Next problem is because when the handset attaches only to hear sounds in one channel? (Whether this error may be an adapter with a mini jack-> jack?)
8.Whether somehow I can add an effect on the samples, which have on your hard drive?
9.Does be possible for a function that lower / raised(pitck +/-) each sound depending on the number pad? (One bank)
Would you please answer how to fix these things step by step.
It would be probably enough.
I apologize in advance for so many questions and language errors but I'm Polish.

I think the problem is not only your English is a little too hard to understand but you also asked a few too many questions at once. :? :)
I am not that familiar with my MPC4000 yet but, I will try and answer question 1 and point you in the right direction.

Q. 1. Hit the PROGRAM button. Press F2 KG MIX. Press F6 ZONE. Then select your sound by hitting it's Pad and adjust PLAY MODE to ONE SHOT.
Then your sound should play till the end.

Hope this helps. I am still working my way through the manual/machine myself so am no expert.

Perhaps someone else could answer another question for you.
Meantime , read that manual. It should all be there. :D

- There's a button on the back of the 4000 that u an switch for choosing to sample from the turntable or sample from other inputs. Maybe you've overseen that? Otherwise RTM

If you don't have a DJ mixer or pre-amp, you should connect the turntable to the RCA phono inputs and move the switch to PHONO.
If you have a dj mixer , use the same inputs and move the switch to LINE.
There is also a gain switch next to the recording level knob to help match the input.

Recording time can be increased in the TIME field on the recording page.

If I read you right................
Press the NOTE REPEAT button while recording a sequence to make a pad repeat.

I know what you mean when u say you don't understand all the things in the manual..
What works for me is to press buttons alot to find out what happens. This in combination with reading the manual will get u
far.
I got my 4000 exactly 2 months now. I get a lot of things done on the machine, but i know there is more to discover. That's also the reason why i love the 4K, i love to learn namean! And i think that's the right way to approach obstacles like learning
curves and technical difficulties.

But that aside, did you download the new manual yet (with over 250 pages) or do you read the one with 100 pages?
The latter is not as detailed as the first...

Peace

I hanen't got mixer, but I have pre amp in turnable.
Maybe I have broken L and R channels,or wire from turnable to MPC?
Yes I have a new REFIL Manual.

 What do you need more than 1½ minute samples for ?
Are you trying to sample a whole song?

How much RAM do you have in the machine?
By pawel13 Fri Sep 10, 2010 12:22 pm
I don't need longer samples, but in Manual, write(at picture) that you can samples more than 1,5 minutes.
I have got normal version,so 256 MB RAM.
