AKAI BOUGHT OUT BY NU MARK!!

YES, they own the distribution rights. the deals went down like 2 weeks ago. I'm sure there had to be a thread on this before, but it's news to me.

Akai was not "bought out" by nu mark. Akai simply made a deal with nu mark to distribute,service, and support akai products in the US.

Cuz Numark is not known for making quality....anything.

As long as they are only distributing the goods, rather than making them, I guess all is still (somewhat) good with Akai products.

On a somewhat related note, Numark is a wonderful, slept-on, underrated producer and DJ for J5!

I gotta disagree with the comment about Numark not making good ish....the TTX Pro turntable smokes just about anything else out there....and the damping in it is about 1000 times better than the 1200s. I swear....99% of the people that still rock Techs are doing it because they're "the standard". Yes, I've owned Techs before, and they're nice, but NOTHING like the TTX Pro. Try lightly tapping on a coffin that the Techs are sitting on and you'll get that loud 808 sounding thump....the TTXs don't do this. Also, with the additional torque, reverse, key correct, etc, you just can't beat them. I would be talking more about how Vestax releases total crap (with the exception of a couple of their mixer models...). I know this wasn't directed at decks in general, and was just a general statement, and I'll agree Numark makes sh!t mixers, but their new decks are way beyond anything else I've seen for hip-hop.....

u ever use the entry level gear? like the mixers and tables? they shitty little plastic ones that are all kinds of wack. stanton shi*s on numark. Of course the $500 tables are gonna be aight.

all my dj friends rock 1200s.....and swear by them...its like a cult thing too. Cause theyd laugh if you said ttx was better.

but seriously, they are just as good, if not better.

plus they good for sampling.....cause of the bpm counter.

was there some vestax hatin goin oin here? i love my pdx and pmc combo. i have tried many different setups and my vestax setup blows it away. all function no b.s.

Not hatin on anyone really.....just that *I* don't personally like the PDXs.....when they were released, they absolutely blew my mind, but now they've been beat out by some of the newer gear in terms of build and features. The PMC mixers DO rock though.....I like the -05 still.....!

an experienced dj can beat count in his/her head, the day my turntable thinks for me, is the day i flip everything for cd decks ( ain't gonna happen ). So numark caught up after 27 years, give em a cookie-and keep there handz off our drum machines.

yo, i can beat count in my head too....its just that when im finding a sample, and feeling it, i dont give a ****! i just wanna look, sample it, and get right to business. ya know? I use it for timestretch, cause sometimes the mpc doesnt read OG Bpm right....so if you enter the bpm of the original song, then it works better.

the ttx is a rock solid table. these turntables are awesome but have not been out long enough to get a life expectancy.the motor is replaceable and i think it supposed to be pretty easy to swap. i say its the best on the market. IT HAS OPTICAL OUT!!!! very nice.

numark is doing the dist for akai and that is why it has beee a b!t ch to get a mpc 2k xl... and everyone thought they were gone....
