My 4000 came today.

I've been sitting here using it. It's a very nice machine. I feel clumsy but the features are very direct and everything can be accessed easily. Not a machine for the faint of heart. Editing samples is a bit difficult, but not bad. Given the few hours I've had with it I enjoy it immensely.

I'm going to return it however.

why?

Pad 14 and my note repeat buttons won't function.

Found out right after I busted my nut from the realization that sample names could be edited with a computer keyboard.

PS. I found a Garth Brooks CD in the Cd Drive

open it up.
I have bought a few of these.
often times, in shipping, a ribbon cable will come loose.

it will be easy to spot, and will only take a few minutes to check

The samplist can sample anything, from anyone and make it work.

note repeat only works when you press play or record or something like that. might seem obvious thing to say but anyway.you never know

Also. The four silver screws around the pads may need to be adjusted. When I got mine, all the notes repeated all the time (think the worse double tap thing ever). So I started messing wth it, loosened those up and now they play perfect. If theyre too loose though, the pads dont hit the sensors.


And man, I bought an MC-909 once off ebay, and the thing came with half a bag of coffee, 4 mints and a king size butterfinger. Weirdest thing ive ever seen.

oh, and my first piece of gear ever, and SP-808ex came with 9 zip disks, and all had complete unedited, unchopped, un-anything'd rob zombie songs on them, and that was it. I later found out it was definitely an upset girlfriend selling her dudes gear. heheheheheheh.

god, I wish. It was like Maxwell House Lite or something. Awful. And I figured the butterfinger was laced with the date rape drug, and he was lurking outside my window.


When you look this good, you can never be too careful.

I never had time to try and fix the 4000. I left for college in 3 days, so I returned it to the store just to be safe.
