Hello everyone,

Ive had an MPC 2000XL for about ten years now and have always had problems with it crashing. It never used to do it as much as it does now though; and has become a real problem. I use a scsi zip and kingston ram, Im not sure if the RAM may be effecting it?

any help to solve this issue would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

below is a link to a picture of the screen I get when it crashes:

Ouch, that looks nasty!

If I were you I would try the following options:

1) Try to operate the MPC without the zip drive. Does the same thing happen?
2) The RAM might be damaged, it happens. Somebody mentioned in another thread that you can physically remove your RAM to see what happens... you have 2MB of RAM by default soldered onto the mother board so you can operate under minimal conditions like a kick, hi-hat and snare for instance.
3) What about reinstalling the OS?

Yeah I think installing the operating system might be the first thing to do, and if that doesn't work try getting new RAM; if all fails I guess I could get an MCD and install the 1.20 operating system.

thanks for the quick response.
