MPC 5000 os 2.0 installation with HD

"Once un-zipped, you’ll have an .bin file which needs to copied to a Compact Flash Card. The file will be called MPC5000_OS.bin." this is written in the AKAI update manual.

Isn't it possible just to put the file on your HD instead of a CFC?

No.
The 1k, 2500 and 5k all update from CF.

So be carefull with the CF-slot. You might need it for a new OS update(sarcasm).
