Hi there, my son has just bought the mpc500. When he records off the CD, the sample comes out fine.
When he trims it and then assigns the trimmed sample to a pad, that's ok too.
But then he wants to take the next bit of the original sample, trim it and assign it to the next pad. When he does this, the speed of the newly trimmed sample slows right down.
This occurs randomly - sometimes with pad 1 and pad 2 but not pad 3; sometimes not pad 1 but pad 2 etc.
Please help
as I can find nothing in the instructions about this but having read some of the earlier posts, wonder if it is to do with the memory (polyphony??) and whether we should be recording in mono. But that doesn't seem right when this is the first thing he is trying to sample and he is only taking a really short phrase (no more than 10 seconds) and wanting to split this up into a number of smaller samples, each one assigned to its own pad.

When he trims it and then assigns the trimmed sample to a pad, that's ok too.
