Beat the ish outta your pads.? Evaluate through a logical sequence of events leading up to the fault. Then assume a conclusion.

I suspect low grade components , shoddy build quality and lousy product support. The conclusion is that those factors are what resulted in the burning components and the way the situation is being handled. Just Blaze didn't have a lot to do with that.

He's not the only one having problems.

i just set the mpc 5000 that was on display on fire over at my local guitar center store!

AS IN, IT ACTUALLY CAUGHT FIRE! I HAD TO DOUSE THE FLAMES WITH A BOTTLE OF HIGHLAND SPRINGS MINNERAL WATER I HAD IN MY RUCKSACK TO PREVENT THE FIRE ENGULFING THE ENTIRE MPC SECTION!

I DID NOT DO ANYTHING UNTAWARD TO THE MPC 5000, I WAS JUST FLICKING FRU THE BUILT IN SAMPLES AND JUST GENERALLY HAVING A GO ON IT!

RATHER THEN THANK ME FOR PREVENTING HIM AND HIS SHOP FROM GOING UP IN FLAMES THE MANAGER OF THE STORE KICKED ME OUT AND EVEN THREATENED TO CALL THE COPS!

so i when i got home (which is like 10 minutes ago) i decided to look this up, n it seems there are 5000s on fire everywere!

this video on youtube is almost identical to what just happened to me! with the screen flickering and all that, apart from that the 5000 i was just on actually went up in flames!

That's some scary shit!

We had a tumble dryer go up in flames a few months ago, but luckily we were in at the time and dealt with it. Usually we put it on and go out, and if we'd done that we would have come back to a frazzled house!

Dont take this personal, I dont know you. But it sounds like BS. You didnt send it in? What were you fiddlin with before that happened? HMMM????? Who else has this happened to? To the guy that wrote 1 in every 7 are faulty. Where did you get that from? The saying goes DONT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR AND BELIEVE HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE.

Again dont take this as a personal attack but it sure is SUSPECT.

The RA# had the wrong address and jerked him around when he tried to get it corrected- so he wouldn't have gotten his 5000 back after they fixed it. Nobody ( with sense) would send their unit under those circumstances.

In his own words....
Akai did give me an RA number, bu in the RA number they have your return address, well the return address was wrong I sent them countless emails telling them it was wrong and to regenerate another RA with the correct return address and they never answered any of them.

As far as the YT guy he response to the comments so I'm pretty sure he would tell you his source if asked.

After Numark screwed MPC1000 owners by making them buy a kit to correct a faulty product this seems right in line with their service philosophy.

My man, I have a weird busy schedule. Sometimes I cant get to the phone, but if there is a issue I need to deal with ill make time to make a call. He could have called Akai they are open MON to FRI. If a employee gives you a hard time you go up to his supervisor. If a supervisor gives you hard time you go to the manager etc etc.

As far as the YT guy, do you believe everything you read and hear? Youre co-signing with no proof.

Now, dont get it twisted I think NUMARK-AKAI have shit for user feedback response and customer support.

I don't care about the claim he made against Akai in the video. However, The video shows a dead backlight in a unit that shouldn't be even close to failing.

I agree. OTOH He's in NY and they're just a few miles away in Jersey- but they're making him spend $120 to ship to Nevada and won't simply fix a return address. It's clear that they want to discourage him from getting it serviced.

Personally I would have their asses in small claims court the minute they gave me the run-around.

Unfortunately I had left my MPC 5k on because I was working on some projects and even though the MPC was still on and working when I got back home the Screen seemed to be off... it does not light up anymore....

I can see a very faint image on the MPC5000 screen if I look very hard so I know it still works but I can't see the bright image I used to see...bascially the backlight burned up with the power surge and the screen is basically unusable.

What should I do? the machine should still be under warranty, I bought it from http://www.americanmusical.com/ . Should i send it there, should I send it to Akai. or how can I fix it? I hope I'm not **** out of luck.

Oh well Got to look at the bright side, my house is fine and my roommates are fine as well... could have been much much worse.

thanks in advanced.

HMMMMMM???????

Anyways, best of luck to you RITEC.

I see some people are skeptical in here..... well this is the 2nd time this happens to me and trust me after the first time I would always turn off that machine whenever I was not in front of it so that the backlight would not suffer, and this is exactly why I was able to get the machine smoking because I never had it on if I was not in front of it.

That said you believe whatever you want to believe, I believe this machine sucks and I also believe akai is a piece of shit company. I unfortunately had bad luck and bought a machine that wasn't manufactured properly at a very very high price, I lost. Fortunately I still have a job that pays well and I'll be able to get through the economic stress the mpc5k put on me.

Yeah I feel like I lost $2,500 but at least I'm not unemployed, on my last unemployment check and with 2 mouths to feed like other people in the world are. I tried to fix it myself and I lost at that as well... live and learn.

I actually ended up giving the machine to Armen here in NYC and he told me fixing it would cost $400 bucks.... I will pay the $400 bucks and sell it for $1500 or whatever and buy a $700 MPC2500 call it a day and never look back. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and to Akai, I hope you lose some business because of me....I know you will. Case closed, akai / nukai whatever, sucks and should not be trusted as a company.

Ritec, im trying to understand your logic. Because it does not make sense to me. I dont know

what really happened but from what I gather your 5000 got burned in a power failure of some

sort. You than replaced the screen. After you replaced the screen YOURSELF it started to

smoke? Isnt that the reason why companies void there warranties when somebody other than

an authorized tech goes into there product?

Youre pissed at Akai? Want them to lose sales? So you want to sell your 5000 and buy another

Akai product?
