But, I myself am not willing to fork over cash to the dude who pays the $12 a year to godaddy.com to run the thing. I respect and appreciate the the vast collection of knowledge that is accessible in these very forums. It's quite convenient. I'm glad this place exists but i'm not going to feel obligated to make a purchase that I don't need because of it.
No obligation at all, I don't expect anyone to feel they have to buy a product from me in order to use the forum. You want free knowledge, then this forum is the place to come and get it. But you want an entire site that takes you from the beginning all the way through to advance stuff, all nice and structured, and all for free? Wow. Sorry, it doesn't exist - my book does that, but it isn't free I'm afraid.
As for a forum costing nothing, good luck with that. A busy forum like this needs a top spec'd dedicated server with one heck of a lot of bandwidth, that's hundreds $ a month plus extra for server management fees. Then there's the vast amount of time and effort put in by the admins to police the site, deal with spammers, hackers, security upgrades, extra features etc.
Not bitchin about the costs, we make them back and some, so I'm happy. I'm also happy for anyone to use any of the resources we have here, or at mpc-tutor.com, or mpc-samples.com. I really don't expect people to buy the book - however when someone asks for a resource that takes them step by step from beginner to advanced, it's clear that people will recommend my book, as it does exactly that.
BTW, welcome to the forums
