So my samples are doubling up...

I'm new here and new to the MPC2000XL. Anyways, whenever i slice up a break that I have sampled in from my turntable, I'm playing the pads it sometimes sounds like the sample is playing over itself. Is there any way to turn this off? Thanks.

you can set the pad mode to mono...default it will be set to poly

got to SHiFT-6 then params.

be more careful when you're hit the pads...you're double triggering them.

Lol its a velocity sensitive machine....you'll want the expressiveness once you get used to how the pads feel.

I'm aware of that, it happens alot when I'm not even hitting the pads very hard at all. I see videos of dudes online hitting the pads way harder than i do, and it doesn't double trigger on them. It's just weird.

It's technique. Don't leave your finger on the pad after striking.
Practice.You'll get it soon

yep its not how hard you hit them....its the technique of hitting the pad then withdrawing your finger.

funny how after a few years on a mpc i can forget that playing one is not quite as intuitive as it looks.

that's wat I've just recently discovered with
my new ( 2nd hand) MPC3000 LE --- the pads
I've got go learn a new tecnique and get new
pad hitting habbits coming from the tiny hard
and not so sencitive MPC1000 pads

but I am already loving the MPC3000 groove and just Dig the whole vibe!

The "poly" to "mono" thing will fix that...but you can also just chop up your loop's more and play them out instead...and yes once you get used to the feel of the mpc you'll start to use those "double hits" to your advantage....their great machines...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've adapted my pad hitting style so that it won't double bounce unless i will it so! I found that i didn't really like switching it from poly to mono.

this happens to me too. at first, i thought it was what the members are saying with how i hit the pad/technique and all that but im not new to mpc2kxl at all and this double sample thing is somewhat odd. it happens at sporadic moments in a sequence even when im certain it didnt record that way. just comes and goes at different measures. i thought i was just trippin'. seriously trippin and i didnt know how to hit the pad correctly but when i actually got a good sample of a trebly funky guitar and shaker i could really hear the difference between the original and the double up - that flanger sound. is it a glitch? anyone have this happen to them?
