I found some items off Craigslist I am trying to decide whether to get or not. Here is what they are offering:

These two drum machines work perfectly and both come with manual and power supplies. Only selling them as pair for $50. This is a great deal. Both these machines were over $100 new.

-Alesis HR 16B

-Zoom Streetbox SB 246

I think they would be fun just to learn and mess around on, but worried they will be distractions from making music with my core studio set up (MPC2000xl, turntable, microkorg) and will also just take up room in the house.

What do you think should I get them (2 drum machines for $50 sounds pretty good and that Streetbox looks fun). Also my friend is selling an MPC500 for $200 that I am tempted to check out so I can easily take portably and hook to computer.

Yeah I know both pieces are pretty cheezy. But for $50 I feel real tempted to get them and then just flip them off after I get my baby brother beat kang on

What's a baby brother beat kangz anyway?

On that note, I've got the feeling I know where this is headed. ???

Just relating the Zoom Streetbox to the BeatKang; seems like same idea and supposedly has 500 presets loaded on it from the BeatKang production team.

Totally score that Alesis and circuit bend it. You can bend the shit out of those things. Patchbay and all! Been looking for a cheap one myself.

Yeah I wasn't necessarily saying the beatkang relation was a good thing, but thought it would be fun to try and then just resell and at least get my money back. Hopefully this thread will dissapear or get closed so it doesn't blow up into another 500 page beatkang bashing pinata party.

@ Finnegan- yeah I've seen the circuit bent ones online and they seem interesting but I don't have the skill set to make that happen. But I have been very interested in learning about circuit bending, so maybe I'll put the time and effort into learning that instead.

Anyway thanks for the input, I am going to just pass it up and not waste the $50. This is my last post on this thread/topic. Peace.

You could have sampled the sounds out of the ZOOM and uploaded them for us. Then sold it....

Just a thought!
