Mpc 3000 and protools help

I was wondering if somone could guid me in what would be the most practical way to get my beats from my mp to protools. I currently have an mbox 2, but should i scratch that and invest in a digi002 or 003? Do i need a multi channel mixer, im lost....Help please??

Well in that case you'd be better off with a Digi002 or 003 (whichever you prefer, 002 will do though).

No real need for a seperate mixer, the Digi's have 18 inputs but only 8 are analogue.

There is also a S/PDIF digital I/O and an 8 channel ADAT I/O on the Digi hardware which you could make use of.

If, however you want more analogue inputs for your Pro Tools system you may want to consider alternatives such as the M-Audio stuff which work with Pro Tools M-Powered software.

M-Audio has a wider choice of interfaces that work with Pro Tools, check those out.

That would be down to personal preference I guess, but consider...

1. Do you need the control surface features, and do you have the desk space for it?

2. Is the interface destined to be portable or will it remain in one place?

The rack versions are slightly cheaper used, the desktop version is more versatile in use (ie standalone mode).

The choice is yours.

midi up your MP to the MBox2, you don't need to get another interface, track 2 at a time, get a good 2 channel preamp and call it good
