multi track recorder/mpc

im looking to get an 8 track recorder with a cd burner so that i can put my tracks onto cd's from my mpc 2000xl. My xl has the 8 outs, so i was just wondering if theres any recorders with burners that u guys recommend to go along side my mpc 2000xl?

im not looking to get anything to much. I was thinking id be willing to spend up to 500.

Not at all I've been looking around I just wanted other peoples opinions...so thanks for the wise ass input, it's appreciated.

I recently bought Yamahas AW2816 multitracker, it costed about 500 dollars. I think you can find it cheaper in US...

As far as DAW's go, I think if you stick with the big names you shouldn't be disappointed. I have a DPS12i that suits me wonderfully. You can find VSS80's and stuff like that around 300-500 on eby all day long.

Some things to consider. A mixer is really nice to have if you don't already. I don't know how you work, but I end up tracking things one at a time usually, so the 8 outs gets used for convenience of sending, for example, separate drum parts to separate mixer channels then after equing the indiv channels the drum track is recorded as a stereo pair into my DAW. So I don't necc use all the inputs in the DAW linked directly to the MPC. Just as an alternative to viewing it as you are.

Also I sometimes "master" my stuff to another source once it's all mixed to a stereo pair in the DAW. So another recording device can be hands. Even just a cassette 4 track.

Some thoughts.

I think you should buy a solid state logic board for $40k. That's my wise ass comment. Here is my advice. Study long study hard. I spend 12-15 hours a day working on music. At least 2-3 of it just reading and cross referencing. DO IT !

my bet is that you will want more that 8 tracks.

my suggestion is a used Yamaha AW model.
YAmaha build stuff that lasts over time.


akai dps is probably the best, but hard to find

OP: for $500, you can get yourself an old D90 by Tascam. 8 I/O + ADAT out for easy transfer. Internal hard drive and decent converters.

edit: Ah! no burner though...

lol...When i made this thread my intention wasnt to be preached to or to "have u guys do my homework". It was simply to get some input from some more experienced mpc users. And for the record i do try and gain info and knowledge every day, its not like im just chillin n posting to get answers.

Ive read my manuals front to back countless times as well as tweakheadz countless times...

that being said i appreciate the good feedback Shostakovich, its much appreciated. I will continue to look around for what im looking for.

i also have a friend who has a copy of pro tools 8. I was thinking i could get an mbox and track my songs out form the mpc to pro tools. Do all my mixing and what not right in the daw, then simply brun my tracks from there. I have heard that this can be sort of a pain, but ive watched a few videos of it being done and it didnt look difficult at all. It seems like its just syncing up the midi time clock (and the bpm of your song/sequence). And then replaying the song as many times as it takes to record all your tracks...
