How do I chop up a Sample on the 3000?

Jazz, I don't think you can record the sample and stop when you want (like on an ASR). I've looked around to see if it can be done and didn't find a solution.
About deleting the unwanted parts of the sample. I thought that the 'TRUNCATE' feature (in Vailixi) would probably clear up some of the sample memory - as it deletes sample data before the start points and after the end ones. Sometimes when I take several samples at a time on my mpc I see a'Compacting Sample Memory' message for a few seconds, so figure that the unit is doing something to maximise the amount of memory available.

fastest way i find is sample the entire sample u want. make copies for it for however many chops u want. then truncate each one to meet ur likings. or just continuously sample from the record until you get all the parts you want...

umm, "ya" that's probably the longest most convoluted way of doing it

look up how to use zones in your manual.

the longest most convoluted way of doing it? whoa whoa hold on.... so your telling me that sampling however many sounds for yours chops at .1 seconds and then truncating in the zone area then saving sounds to temp. and then inserting them to the sounds for the separate chops then having to truncate the initial dead air is faster then copying the original loop and just truncating it individually... if ur first chop is from 0.000.000-1.500.000 and that makes up one beat then the rest are going to follow. so it takes next to no time to chop the remaining beats up even with minor adjustments. and sampling each individual sound isnt that time consuming if it was SOOO tedious im sure producers like kev brown wouldnt be doing it to waste their precious time.
