Whats up folks,
Man so I'm planning to put a hardrive in my MP since my card slot is screwed up but I'm not sure if an IDE hard drive is the same as an ATA drive. I think so but want to make sure before I make a purchase. Specifically I saw a "80GB 5400RPM 2.5 LAPTOP HDD MK8032GAX" that seems to fit the bill. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks all.

yeah man, make sure it's pata, and avoid the SATA ones cause from what I know.... no MPCs use sata at all for anything.

that looks like an okay HDD.... though I would suggest having a look around the forums for exact models since the topic has been covered before.

Man! Thats what I thought. That a quick search would reveal some the better HDs. As many people that have them the search was surpisingly unclear. But thats why I put it out there for the brothas (sistas too if they get down) to lend a helping hand. So is PATA and IDE equivalent?

ya, parallel ATA is what you want, except if you have a old model like the 2000xl or the 3000 then you would want a scsi drive.

Just want to put my thanks out there for everyone that shot me some info. I got a 250g Western Digital PATA drive and a moshi memory card reader. I had to pay 60 bucks to get the hard drive formated. Everything is working so far. I dumped all my beats and drum sounds on to the hard drive. Everything has loaded fine. I haven't made/saved anything yet but I dont anticipate any issues. Anyway, one love to my cyberfolks who looked out!!!
PEACE!
