I feel you AES. I'm doing the same thing. I thought I had the best of both worlds by having the hardware-feel of Maschine combined with the power and flexibility of software. But the missing ingredient was the ability to have a self-contained device that can be used when you want or need to get away from the computer or have problems with the computer, etc. With my recently acquired MPC 1000 I can use it stand-alone or as a powerful midi controller with Reason and BPM! To make matters even sweeter, I got it for only a couple hundred more than the MPD32. I even got it to recognize the full capacity of a 340gb hard drive that is on sale at Best Buy for $90US. The MPC combined with the recent BPM update and Reason 5 is truly a nice setup that is also fun, flexible and has a tight workflow.
