Hi,

I'm in a tribute act. I'm programming live tracks on cubase sx3 to take live with a mpc2500.

Its mainly just midi sequencing a couple of synths and samplers. There is no general midi stuff here with sounds etc( I don't understand gm or smf)

I literally just want the notes going to the right channel. So before I started this I even set sx up with 4 midi ports, same as mpc) so the midi instrument chain is the same.

I have the first track done so I now want to transfer it to an mpc2500. Transferring across midi lsb, program change and vol/ Pan settings.

Anyone know if there is a specific type of midi file I have to use on mpc's

Just in case anyone else searches on this subject I found the answer.

Exporting cubase data as a midi fiule literally just puts everything into channels 1-16

that is to say that it will create the sequences for the tracks but will NOT recognise different midi output ports and do anything with that information.

You therefore need to go through each track and set the correct port. The channel will be right.
