just some general advice

whats the best way to create drums for my music on the mpc 5000 first time i used it i put all my differant elements on the same track within the same sequence but would i be right in thinking you use seperate tracks within the sequence for each element?

To get the feel of it.. set to 4 bar. set bpm to 80. Put a clap on the 1-2-3-4 then adjust bpm to where you feel like you want it. It will be your new metranome.. now for track 2. Add kicks. Just play till you get a good rythim and bounce. Don't get to fancy on it. It has to have head bob factor. Boom boom bap....Boom bap.boom bap...boom bap.then it loops back.. or just boom.....bap...boom.bap..boom.bap...boom.boom.bap.bap. then loop that. Just try that till you figure out how to retain swing and bounce. You should be able to bob head forward.and back in rythim to the bap. Bap and head should arise at the same place. Head forward= the bap. That's the head bob factor. The boom will hit when your head is forward.to. but the bap never front and back. That's not bounce . Try it hum boom bap boom bap and bounce man. Get into it. Change it up. Beat box it. The bap should bounce you down.. drop the beat on the one boieeee...

I do boom bap on track one. Then when the feel and swing are good I copy track one to track 2. Remove the drum from track two. Hit over dub, hold delete and drum pad. The go to track one and remove the clap. Overdub, hold erase and clap pad. The you got boom bap on two separate tracks with swing and bounce. Yes all sounds should be on separate tracks. Melody one track tho..lol.

Its preference, you should try both because they have there pros and cons. I actually only use one track for the MPC. The only times I use the other tracks is for midi.

Ya.. I hear 1 track muddy, strangled, chaotic mpc beats all the time.. ON YOUTUBE!! Don't try that ever. How do you eq a one track beat? How do you automate? You want a beat ok. One track it simple Simon. You want to make music? Work your ass off and do the things lazy producers don't do. There is a huge demand for quality. Sub par is barley in demand by broke wack artists.

One track equals muddy? Hes talking about sequencing tracks... You can assign effects in the mixer screen.

You should watch out for the things that come out of your head, spoken or typed. Often times people are just a reflection of their words...

I just told him to 1 track per sequence. So your post is redundant. And one track beats suck monkey balls. And if you using the effects in the mpc, then I need no further talks with you. You obviously don't get it. It's a sequence that has effects built in for you to consider using. Use the tracking daw to effect and eq. Don't try to psycho analyze me.

yeah well i have tried the one track option gotta say it didnt work for me i prefer wat ghosty says one track one sound which is exactly the way this sound for samplers dvd shows you peacee

The only time you need to change sequence tracks is if you use different programs or modules.

You dont understand that I could have a song on the mpc that only used one sequence track and record the same song to a daw and have 128 tracks.
