Can somebody solve this? 2000XL + Yamaha MO6 MIDI problem

could You help me please? I know it was posted at least million times, but I searched thru, I've tried some techniques, but it still doesn't work.

I have MPC 2000 XL and Yamaha MO6 synthesizer and I would like to trigger keyboard sounds with MPC pads. So it goes MIDI out from my keyboard to MPC's MIDI in. I know I have to change Drum to MIDI, I've done that. This is settings from both machines:

I haven't set up Sync Out on MPC, because I only want to trigger keyboard sounds. Sure MPC out goes to mixer channel 1 and Keyboard goes to channel 2.

you've just got it backwards. you need:
mpc midi out -> keyboard midi in

if you have two midi cables, do:
keyboard midi out -> mpc midi in
mpc midi out -> keyboard midi in

right now you are just playing/recording midi data into the sequencer, but then it has to get back out to the sound module.

also this has nothing to do with 'sync' so I wouldn't mess with that.

By the way - if I add one more cable vice versa then I can control MPC sounds with keyboard, right? Or that's another deal?

if you have both cables connected, you can record the keys from the keyboard, and then play it back via the mpc...or just use the mpc pads.
