Zip disk drive took a poop?

Wow, so im super impressed/surprised how much more efficent (maybe not thte right word exactly) the 3k is at using the floppies than the 60.. The dnb beat i mentioned before that i didnt want to lose is all on one floppy! I chopped the funky mule break and a few other sounds so theres like 11 different drum hits, a 2sec bass rumble and 2 copies of a rhodes layered with different filter settings, also two vocal samples that are short little 'unh' and 'feelit' one-shots. All these chops and 5 seq's fit on a single floppy! If memory serves the 60 would have used a small pile of floppies to accomplish this! Im not so sure i feel a strong need to rush out and repair the zip/zip fuse issue now..Of course i backed-up the floppy with an extra copy but so far its working fine. Also i got a fat pack of floppies at office depot for $25, i cant even buy zip disks locally.. Way to go floppies! haha..

hd = 1.44MB
dd= 720k

really is it 2:1? It seemed more like 3:1.. or more..

the math is simple.

perhaps the 3000 is more efficient, who knows?
are you sampling mono or stereo?

I think the 60 can get like 820kb on a single floppy... I will have to check again but I seem to remember seeing more then the assumed 720.

also, if anything the 60 would be more efficient i think since the 12 bit mono only takes up less space then 16 bit, and potentially stereo. But yeah either way 1.44 is much more then DD.

yeh its dos that see 720kb because its file system is more complex. e.g folders etc. also ACORN computers used to see around 800kb as well on a DD disk.

yeah mine can do 793k onto a blank floppy (hd floppy with the taped corner)
