In a similar fashion as you set up the 8-outs, go to the MPC mixer and select the lead / kick pad (the sound you DO NOT want to go to the main out). Now, just as you did for the 8 outs, you can either mute this or simply turn the main volume down (I don't have my mpc in front of me to verify).
Alternatively, you could take every other sound and route it to outputs 3/4, and then your outs 3/4 act just like your main outs.
Helpful to this is the 'all' button available on the mixer / indiv screen which selects all shown pads and you can adjust at the same time...useful for sending entire banks of sounds to the same output, or adjusting their volume together.
