internal harddrive

is it more stable to load ur pro tools sessions from an external harddrive(what im doing now and sessions crash almost alot!)
or a internal harddrive and save all ur sessions on that?

I run a 300 gig highspeed drive internally along with an external raid drive case that i can hotswap drives out of. the internal holds all current projects going back 12 months. each day they are backed up to the external drive case and when possible i take home a copy. I find this to be the best way but not everyone has this luxury.
all my programs os etc run off an internal 20 gig drive ( soon to be replaced by a 16gig ultra high speed solid state)
I would reccomend having your current sessions on an internal drive and jsut copy and past to your external once a week/month so that you have a back up *just in case* as even though i do the above i still suffer from the odd crash, however, this is reduced from "almost all the time" to maybe once every 6 months.

shouldn't matter whether its internal/external as long as the drives are fast enough. but if it's crashing, it's crashing. so you might as well use the internal drive.

if you use the internal drive, then to help avoid any fragmenting or other issues, partition your drive and keep you audio in one section.

dope! yea im looking at getting a 2tb internal hd. so that way i can use my 1tb external to backup stuff.. isnt there like a systems tool on ur computer that is like a program that helps u back up ur files?

Though I use Logic 9 and a FW800 HD on my MBP... I always use an external HD for saving/loading my projects with no problems.
