I find this to be the best way but not everyone has this luxury.
all my programs os etc run off an internal 20 gig drive ( soon to be replaced by a 16gig ultra high speed solid state)
I would reccomend having your current sessions on an internal drive and jsut copy and past to your external once a week/month so that you have a back up *just in case* as even though i do the above i still suffer from the odd crash, however, this is reduced from "almost all the time" to maybe once every 6 months.
I hope that's useful and if you have any other questions etc just shoot me a PM or send me an email. follow the link in the sig it has all my contact details.
peace.
dope! yea im looking at getting a 2tb internal hd. so that way i can use my 1tb external to backup stuff.. isnt there like a systems tool on ur computer that is like a program that helps u back up ur files?
