Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hey ya'll if any knows what is the highest GB hard drive can you install on the MPC 4000. I heard that you can install 500GB. Not sure if you can and will it slow down the mpc. Please does any one know, and can help me.

I noticed in the attached thread you can format and partition a large HDD... So I could, in theory, use a 500 GB IDE drive split up into 5 - 100GB FAT32 drives? Seems there isn't really a limit.

Also, a LOT easier to back up. Plus into the a comptuer with another hard drive, drag MPC's external drive
onto new backup Harddrive, and wait , make some coffee and wait, make more coffee and then it's done.


With the internal, using Aksys, can be a long painful process for a large drive...
