I got my Mackie MR8's wired out of a Central Station with balanced cables. Is it possible this low end hum/hiss is from unbalanced lines are being introduced into the signal path? (I.E. an analog synth)
I also have a set of Alesis Monitor One's (Passive) hooked up out of an Alesis RA-100 power amp. All my equipment is ran powered through a Monster Pro 2500 condintioner, but my Alesis monitors seem to have a louder hum then the Mackie's. I read some other forums, and I was wondering was some of you think about when I should consider when figuring out the source to the hums. Are Shielded cables different from Balanced cables? Would that be a good idea to use only shielded cables for my monitors, or replace all my balanced cables with shielded cables? Some forums have said I shouldn't run power cords and cables parrellel to one another, yet instead, run them at 90 degree angles to help reduce RF.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
