go to a techno show, bunch of cracker ass white people. and they have the nerve to call it dance music, like thats what they're doing. looks more like epileptic seizures and swinging glowsticks around to me.

Not racist! HILARIOUS!

Ok, ok. GO TO BED OLD MAN!

HAWHAWHAW!!!!

You sound like the cracker. You sound like one of those uptight whites that freaked about rock'n'roll too. Too much hip shaking there for you? Hate on that Little Richard fealla for screaming like a crazy man? Or at Carl Perkins for wiggling his hips? Let me guess, Screamin' Jay Hawkins is nothing but noise too, right?

HYSTERICAL MAN! You are too funny!

I don't like dance/trance etc... But really. The whole "That's noise! That isn't music! Look at those whippersnappers doing their quote unquote dancing!" That sounds like some old person hating on those young kids type speak and I KNOW that wouldn't be going on around here. Way too progressive.

VERY VERY FUNNY!

Guys it was a joke. OBVIOUSLY there aren't any people on here that are so stuck in ancient times that they would actually say that some kind of music just isn't music. I mean what is this the 50's?

WHAT'S NEXT MAN? No diminished fifths?

"NO! That's the Devil's chord!!!!"

Back in the eighties we'd have house techno acid and garage in one room and hip hop/groove in another.Totally mixed crowd and no fighting. All top grade, class A stuff. You were not invited. :P the only thing thats changed is small mindedness and fashion

yes also the illegal techno rave scene in my city was like that: techno and hip hop in the same place... it was good... then came heroin, crack and all that shit...
personally i didn't like to go to rave parties. too much dope, it's like lobotomy
i don't like trance and commercial house,
i like old acid house like the early Psychic TV house lps (tekno acid beat, beyond the infinite beat, sirens) splinter test, etcetera...
i like techno and minimal from 80s to now
i love Pan Sonic, got their lps on vinyl when they came out and still listen to that shiit today
some of my favorite groups in the 90s are The Advent, Plastikman, Sabres of paradise, Psychick Warriors of Gaia (wich i've seen line in an old factory transformed in a music auditorium in my town, and the show was great)...
so many...
rest in peace, Athos

some namedropping I really like :-)
allthough to my knowledge none of them uses MPC
Apart from The Advent which did live shows with MPC 2000 if I remember well..I am still sorting out how they did it.
As a matter of fact the only reason I am keeping my MPC 5000 is because I hope that one day, I'll figure out how a live set like The Advent did, can be created in MPC only. For now I use Ableton/RS7000/Monomachine/Machinedrum/TR808 and 909/ MS20/Virus/Blofeld but to know that I might make tracks like Advent with MPC only...

Anyway, more on-topic : how to make techno with MPC ? I have no idea ...

sorry for the offtopic

Mika Vainio of Pan Sonic do use an mpc 2000 in live shows (as showed in the "Kuvaputki" dvd) and in studio:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6hmLfE07JU --- Modern Minimalists With Björk - Documentary, BBC Television, 1997 - Part 1 Of 2 - (HD - 720p)

Dr. Walker (Air Liquid) uses TWO mpc 3000 in the double cd "Clash" (with Holger Czukay of the german krautrock band Can) this is a very beautiful recording

sometimes i like to do a techno track on the mpc 2000 - microkorg - sp1200...
in this days i'm usin a mpd24 with ableton live 8, but i like the hardware so much... better sound and a more intuitive approach

i've met autechre in 1998 at a gig in my town (at the CPA FI sud in florence, italy) same place where the Psychick Warriors Of Gaia played 2 years before. here http://www.ecn.org/hackit98/pics/ and here http://www.ecn.org/hackit98/pictures.html are some pics of the place). i was playing records in the chill out room, they came to listen to my dj set and i was really glad...
the show was incredible! a huge room with lot of people. that night a also meet Mira Calix that was playing a dj set before the autechre show
