Which OS is better for this

Hi!

I have MPC 1000 with JJ OS 3.12.

I need feature: I have guitar controller joined to MIDI IN, and I bend and vibrato the strings (like "pitch" wheel in keyboard) and MPC doesn't work: the sound (pitch) is all the time unchanged.

I read that OS 1, 2 series have this feature, and you can change "pitch" of the sound.

But I also need 4 layers - I have PGM programs where I use 4 layers and I need that.

So would be JJ OS 1 good choice to have both?

What happends with the HDD disk - it's neccessary to format it after change OS?
Will old PGM programs wokring with new JJ OS 1?

You can download os1 & 2 or xl and check in few minutes how it works with your controller. it doesn't cost you nothing except (precious) time, those are fully functional systems, only saving is disabled.

If you have formatted your drive with free version, there's no need to do it again.

Programs should be translated very well to os1 only, because there were no many changes in this area as I remember, well some of them can sound a bit different, but it's easy to bring them back to previous state.

I'm not sure if you can upgrade to os2 and os2xl without having a password on the MPC1000.
I know it's possible on the 2500 though (coz you have to pay one time for all the OS).

only OS 1 has 4 sample layers so you have to go with that one. OS 2 & 2XL max out at 3 layers.

the only way to change pitch of mpc samples via external midi is with pitch bend. if your guitar controller can send standard pitch bend data then the mpc will respond to that.

You're partially right, now I read it's impossible to load os2 if you don't have full $$$ version of os1, another thing is you CAN load up xl from free version, so sorry for misleading info, I've never bothered because I had pass for os1

It seems that the OS 1 would be perfect for me.

These are standard MIDI pitch bends, so should work. I will check it out before buy on "no save" version.
