Anyone here used the lighter fluid method that works for regular vinyl on their Serato records ? And if not that, what method do you use to clean them ?

what exactly happens if they're dirty? does it not track like it should? does it make the mp3s skip? cleaning serato vinyl seriously sounds like a geeky joke... please enlighten me here.

I'm interested in that too. what kind of effect does an dirty, warped or heavily used serato vinyl have on the file played by the computer. Skips? I can imagine that the timecode info of a heavily used serato vinyl cant be read correctly by the software.
peace

When they're dirty the program can't track the code as well . They're not blank, they have something similar to SMPTE on them . You can still play songs but cutting and doing sh!t like backspins starts to skip the mp3 .
Weird thing is that when they're brand new they don't track as well as after a couple gigs when the needle wears into them a bit . I go through a new set about every other month but know dudes who don't get new sets for 6 months at a time .
