First sample you spotted ?

Yo folks.

Just out of curiosity...
Do you still remember which was the first sample you spotted 'in the wild' ?

Like for me it was William Bells 'I forgot to be your lover' ... after listening to Dilated Peoples 'Worst Comes To Worst' for years and then (re)discovering it 'by accident' in some 70's soul mix it was orgasmic!

Didn't know shit about sampling back then and actually that sample made me do all my homework about sample-based music, digging and stuff, immediately.

Definitely a great feeling!

first one that really tripped me out was hearing the black sheep bass groove in the middle of mccoy tyner's trident. why i had never known about it before i have no idea.

i knew about sampling cause im a nerd and would read the album inserts and it would say "contains a sample from such and such", my First sample was a violin beat off last of the mohicans soundtrack

I also read the "contains sample of" stuff on innersleeves and I knew the technique of sampling before I knew about hiphop. But I'll never forget that night at the club when the DJ suddenly played: The JBs - The grunt
This was sampled for "Night of the living baseheads" from PE. And it was on my first HipHop vinyl.

Before I heard that JBs Track I thought PE sampled something like a signal horn from a car or an alarm
This was the first one I was really surprized about.
I cant tell the first one ever. too long ago and like I said before. I knew many samples (the name of the artist and song) before I heard the original song.

I ended up coming across it on "RISE" by herb albert

Mine was when i first heard Bobby Caldwell - My Flame and i thought to myself hey isnt that from Skys the Limit.

god of war 2. made a baddass beat that got deleted when my memory card flowers up, been meaning to remake that beat but i can't be bothered setting the ps3 up! got other schit to work on so flowers it.
