Start your own shit up Ty! Not to sound like someone who goes "don't just **** about it, DO SOMETHING" (cause I hate when people say that shit  )

But it wasn't super hard to start a little something here in my dead town...all we had was karaoke / country singers and shit...now I'm hosting a weekly hip hop night and people are like FINALLY :D So I'm guessing you're not the only one in the area that feels like you do...you know?

It just happened really...I was dj'ing around town for free wherever I could- then I got hired to DJ a friends bday party at the restaurant where he cooked at- the owner dug it and hired me to keep up a weekly gig- from there it's moved to another bar in town and it just kinda took off on it's own...

well it may sound lame, but how else you gonna find locals that you dont personally know already who are into that type of stuff? you may wind up talking to several people before coming across people who are actually serious and not caught up in some sort of moment when they posted an add or what ever....
