ha ha lol...

i mean the 5000 is the best compromiss between the 'simple' 2000 and the 'pro' 4000.the 4000 is really deep and for a noob way to complicated!

it's all good, just get a fire extinguisher and dont put the wood side panel mod on your 5k!

Anyways no mpc is perfect except the one that I own  (subject to change if I get another model) but maybe the 5K owners will be lucky by some day getting a new OS for the machine... it seems that a lot of people want that. If that OS ever drops some people will regret selling their 5000s

Hehehe, nice quote there :D

Of course the 5K ain't perfect as well.. like the mentioned trim mode and chop shop which really need to get optimized in a hopefully comming update. Or that there's only 1 send per pad. An easier assignment of all pads of a program to one of the outputs would be cool too. What would be a killer feature if that assignement could happen from the trackmix page. Also a global EQ per track would be fantastic (one can dream).
But beside the trim and chop shop those are more like extra extra feature requests and I'm realy happy with the 5K.

The ONLY 5000 that started to smoke was because it was damaged in a electrical surge.

95% the complaints listed in the "bug thread" are false.

The more you complain about equipment shows your lacking of musical skill.

Making what up? Look at the dates stupid. Put two and two together.

Defending purchase, im not broke.... I bought the 5000 for 1600 U.S brand new when os 2 was already out. Im smart enough and been doing this for a long time too know to let things pan out before buying them.

Tonight when i came back home I saw a ceiling lamp in my house had actually burned up and it was on the floor all charcoaled up. Apparently we had a power surge while I was out.... luckily the house did not burn down phewww.

Unfortunately I had left my MPC 5k on because I was working on some projects and even though the MPC was still on and working when I got back home the Screen seemed to be off... it does not light up anymore....

I can see a very faint image on the MPC5000 screen if I look very hard so I know it still works but I can't see the bright image I used to see...bascially the backlight burned up with the power surge and the screen is basically unusable.

What should I do? the machine should still be under warranty, I bought it from http://www.americanmusical.com/ . Should i send it there, should I send it to Akai. or how can I fix it? I hope I'm not **** out of luck.

Oh well Got to look at the bright side, my house is fine and my roommates are fine as well... could have been much much worse.

thanks in advanced.

HMMMMMM???????

Anyways, best of luck to you RITEC.
