well there you have it, I cant think of any reason that wouldn't be the best purchase then if you can get one with the new pads, jjos, and fully working for cheap.

Yeah I just bought a black mpc1000 with max ram and harddrive for 400. It's sitting on my porch now. Gotta go get it! So excited!

One the best things about being a MPC user from the days of the original is that I have always seen the same ole sh*t.

People always b*tch about a MPC having issues and problems then when a new model comes along they all of a sudden say the old one worked great and had no problems.

The 60 had problems.
The 3k had problems.
The 2k had problems.
The 2kxl had problems.
The 4k had problems.
The 1k had problems.
The 2500 had problems.
The 5k had problems.
The 500 had problems.
Yet people always try to talk like there's this dramatic difference in reliability.
That's just the internet talking, nothing more.

I own/ have owned them all and never saw a perfect MP, but at the same time never saw a MP that prevented me from doing work.

You buy a MP because it fits your workflow.

One of the buggiest MP's ever is called a classic now and that's the OG 2k.
When it was first released crashing was it's specialty, but now people always talk about how reliable the OG 2k is.
I have (2) 5k's and neither has ever crashed or gave me any trouble.

We have very similar experiences. I have gone through every mpc except the 500, 2000xl and the 60 mark 1. The "classics" all have givin me more crashes than the 5000.

man, maybe some people are good with their 5000's which is nice, since our goals are all the same... to get some creative shit coming out the speakers that are gonna get heads bouncing up and down and what not.

Now, I found the 2000xl to be very stable, easy maintenance, well built, does what I like it to do... fun and easy to use.... and it never crashes. It never freezes... okay some people had theirs crash or freeze when doing odd things that I never did... but I did quite a bit with mine and never had it screw up on me. I lugged it around and it always booted and loaded my stuff perfect. To me that feature is the most important, and because the machine is not complicated it is very easy to troubleshoot. In fact the XL is even simpler a machine then the 60 and the 3000. less components to go wrong too.

that is what my point was. Sure the 5000 is worth more so I would rather have that, but when a thread askes 2000xl vs 5000... I took the route of pointing some things the xl has over the 5000.
