8 outs means you have the 8 outs installed in your unit. If so you can send the drum kit parts out of each channel to your mixer or mtr for proper eq, and tracking. Yes it is in the reference manual. Check out the newbie bible.

i am seriously trying to find it but simply cant !

Use the user manual on go to page 50. Under multi section covering outs in the mix page it explains the 8 outputs which works the same in programs.

Essentially you can assign the kick, snare, high hat and etc to different outputs in program or assign different programs to outputs.

This reference in the manual is not a specific detailed description about this function, but thnx..

I see you advising in many topics, and you have a mpc4000!, so maybe you can awnser this:

Im using a mpc2000 with 8 outs (to DPS16) and am still wondering if i can record live in a mpc, like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dmeg21U ... re=related (instead of vocals i want to use live instruments),
and put that sound also trough the 8 output..

Some people say this type of live recording should be possible with a 1000,2500,4000.
(and if so, can you assign this to the 8 assignable outs)

This isn`t about 8 outs it is about audio tracks recordings which the 2500 and 5000 have I'm not sure about the 1k. The 4k has no audio tracks only midi tracks. Thru we have a special midi trigger that can record a long sample to match to a sequence it is stop and play not continus like the others. Actually ableton live is the better way for this video.

Anyway once all the tracks are recorded of course like I said earlier you can send them out of the 8 outs no problem. But not as you are recording on the 4k. 2500 or 5k you have to check yourself.

Just read the mpc 2500 manual and it works on this machine, it is called DIRECT RECORDING

I assumed to get a 4000, also because of the 96 kHz capability, but i seriously need this direct recording function more.
Thnx for the help man !
