Playing MPC samples through MIDI keyboard?

Sup people, can anyone explain how to hook up a MIDI keyboard (I am using a Roland XP-30) so that the samples on the MPC pads are played with the keys instead (when a long sample is chopped up this can make things a lot easier)...also is it possible to set up the MPC so that when a pad is pressed the sample only plays as long as the pad is pressed, and the entire sample is not triggered like I have it doing now?
