Please Help-

I got a 4k and lately i've been thinking of selling it for a 3k or 60 with a s950 sampler. I've noticed alot of porducers use this setup and i was just wondering if it's better? I love my 4k and i don't know if i would like the the other setup, does anybody know how the other process works with the loading and sequencing. Or i was thinking of just getting the s950 and using that with the 4k, but would that make any sense? Please hit up if u know anything cuase i've never even touched a 3k or 60 or even a s950. Peace-

You'll be going backwards. You can always dirty a sample up,but it's real hard to clean one. Dont worry about what others are you using just bang out with what you have. Trust me,with the 4000 you are ahead of the game.

Clear your mind first. The 4k has the Z8 sampler built in already. The 4k is the drum machine and full sampler combined all in one. The others 3K and 6K are not so you needed a s950. Check out the article on the Z8 sampler. You are new to working with sampler it seems. but regardless of the technology the principals are the same. The pioneers worked with 60 or 3K for sequencing and a full sampler S950 for sample time, better filters, keygroups to play the loops and sounds using a keyboard. They would sample into the S950 and sequence on the MPC. But the 4k is a all in one package, with drum programs and keygroup programs all you really need is midi keyboard, sounds and crack open the Z8 manual and you are set. Get the knowledge first then you will understand the power in your hands. Read and help yourself. Check out the article on Z8 is the 4k real manual.

Hiphop producers stick with the 3k and the 60 just because theyre lazy.
For sequencing the mpc4k is just the best, there is no match

WHen it comes to sound,,, the mpc3k and 950 may have that phatter and punchier edge some poeple might look for. But if you want that sound, you can just buy an exciter to get the punchy edge, and use the bitrate converter in the mpc to make the samples rawer. Trie an Aphex c103, they go 2nd hand for about 70dollars.

ONce used to a mpc4k, its very hard to go back.
