For those who switched from 2000xl to 1000

was it a good switch? any regrets? Pros? Cons? I'm thinking about switching because I need portability. I know about the timestretch, I think I can live without it. what about loading beats from 2000xl on a 1000, after transfering to flash card of course. Help a fellow MPCer out. Peace

pros: faster load and save times, smaller, re-sampling, standard effects

cons: bugs, no shift-timing, no velocity setting for each track

go to a music store and play with one for about an hour first. I switched from the MPC2000 to the '1000 and I miss havin the '2000. The '1000 kicks ass in the storage and effects section, but there is a lot lacking. For one thing, ive noticed the '2000 played back samples more consistantly. like, u played back a sample and it sounded the same everytime, whereas the '1000 sounds like it is slightly changing it. also, the timing on the 2000 was locked, but the 1000 dosent always sound on beat.

im not trying to convince you out of gettin the 1000 cause im still using it and it is capable of a lot. But, I know i will probaly be checkin out the 2000XL once they make a Flashcard upgrade for it.

If you plan on using the MPC as your full fledged Midi Production Center get the 2000xl or 4000


If you just need a MPC for this or that go for the 1000

i think the biggest pro is the 1000s more of an instrument with a mind of its own. Plus its small so i can walk around without people knowing I got a grand on my back!

I was walkin around Manhattan goin to and from the studio and I had the 1000 and a laptop on my back
and know one knew

now if I were carrying around a big ass box ,possibly one that said 2000xl, I'm sure it wouldn't be the same

Since I used the computer to chop my samples and time stretch anyways I figured I could sell my 2000XL and save a few hundred bucks and get the 1000. I did and i'm glad. Its much faster than chopping on the computer then saving to zip, then transferring the zip to my mpc then loading it all up. When I can just drag everything from the desktop into a folder and load it into the mpc. If you use the computer alot to chop your samples etc then i'd recommend a 1000

are any of you able to use it with a pc and a mac without problems?

I traded my 2000 for a 1000 got thoroughly pissed off and then bought a
2000xl and I am once again a happy man. I don't know why people are carrying a 1000 or 2000 around for, most studios now a days have one in it
and it's a lot easier to carry a zip or flash card "duuuh". If somebody wanted to get you! why steal a machine? can you imagine running down the block
with either of the machines and then having to sell it for maybe $400 if your lucky. I rather the cash shake you upside down like the thugg in underdog.
I am so glad I got the xl and with a computer you can do everything and some that the 1000 do . I read this board every so and so and I see alot of
problems with the 1000 .Damn I never experieced my samples not playing on time with the 2000 or the xl that must suck, I will wait another year till akai fix that machine and probaly cop one to carry to work with me . I got my own office so I could get paid to play.

The 1000 works perfect on my Mac. Plus there is MPCpad187, which makes pgm's, building kits, arrangements, and settings a breeze (drag and drop).

well spend a couple months with a 1000 and you might get it.get why i like it so much.just the right features(i give 2 shits about timestretch and zoning,blah blah blah) oh they have to pry my dead fingers off it.i dont even use a computer and my productions are always on point.and the timing is perfect just like a 2000xl

What're you talkin about???

Are you referring to re-sampling with the FX applied or the like Bit Rate Re-sampling...
