Reason as sound mod with MPC1000 and midi keyboard

hey,
i have been reading up on here on the forum, and i still cant get Reason as a sound mod working with my MPC1000 properly. I have read Sticky's notes on it and youtubed the sh#t out of it. i must be doing something wrong. What I would like to do is use Reason as a sound module and using the midi keyboard, record into the MPC, and the MPC outputting the audio. can this happen? I thought it could, but after reading different threads, its just made me more confused. I have the following equipment:

MPC1000
Behringer UMA25S midi keyboard
m-audio audiophile 2496 sound card
reason 3.0

the set up is as follows:
keyboard connected to computer via usb
keyboards midi out -> MPC1000 midi in 1
sound card midi out -> MPC1000 midi in 2
sound card midi in -> MPC1000 midi out B
speakers -> MPC1000 stereo out

In Reason, I have a simple nnxt as the midi in device on bus B channel 1. on the MPC1000 I have the track as midi and the midi channel as 1B. For the MIDI/SYNC (PAD 9) i have:
active track recieve channel: ALL
Sort thru: AS TRACK
sequence change by program change: OFF
Pad to internal sound: OFF

MIDI does not send audio

the sound will come out of your sound module

so connect the speakers to the computer's soundcard

or if you want the sound to go to the mpc you need to use audio cables from the soundcard to the mpc. midi cables will NOT carry audio. ever.

so the only way to get the sound into the mpc is to put the audio output from the sound card to the record in on the mpc? is there any way that the sound can be sequenced in the mpc so i dont have to sample the sounds from Reason?

I'm not really sure what you're trying to do, but I think the answer's no.

The point of a sound module is it makes sounds. If you want those sounds to come out of something other than the sound module, you need to at least run an audio cable to the other gear (e.g. to send the sounds through a mixer or amplifier) or if you want those sounds to be played by another piece of gear, you need to sample or record them.

just to go into a bit more detail on this - you could also use the computer to record sounds out of Reason as WAV files, then transfer those files to the MPC (via USB or the CF card) so they are available on the MPC - that would be an alternative to connecting the soundcard outputs to the MPC inputs and sampling
