Will we ever see another MPC

If somebody can put the mpc 4000 inside a sp 404........then it's a wrap.

I really like the idea of this. Re releasing a classic but with a few technology upgrades. (re release the 60 or 3k but with cf card, more ram, etc.)
i think it would be tough tho, where would you draw the line on technology upgrades?

NO FLIPPIN CF CARDS. They could at least upgrade to SD or something, USB you know something current you can actually go buy in a store still?

well bluetooth would be nice.... however I think multi card reader... because frankly CF is a better format then SD it just became less popular O.o

Im doubtful that we will see another akai MPC in its current form....

We can only hope, that's like waiting for a new mv, electribe?

You know what somebody should make, akai or Roland maybe one those company's..............

All these company's are making mpc inspired software, the machine had it right, but take it a step further,
Still have the software but also make the * Hardware controller* stand alone also.

Imagine if machine had.......
4 or 8 outs, usb & firewire
midi in & out
couple stereo outs
tilt screen
JJ os options
Mv 8800 built quality[not size tho]
Either the mpc 5000 or mv 8800 screen[probably the 8800 screen would be better]
1 or so ram
Multi card reader
Pre-amp built in
Multi efx
some type of Mixer built in
maybe a 12 or 16,24 track sequencer

Mad stuff I'm missing

I think nukai is just dropping the ball failing pads ...cheap parts ...flag ship models with dying screens lighting on fire ...they did good with the mpc 2500 and messed up with the buggy 5000 ....there mpk series is trash busted keys ..crappy pads ...mpd is crappy too ....
The last Real akai mpc made was the blue mpc 2000xl and blue mpc 4000

yeah even I think the 4000 was made after they got bought out... no? none the less the 4000 was still moving in the right direction. that machine to this day is still the highest spec model which baffles me as to why they didn't improve on it or even re-release it.

The 4000 was the the last true Akai Pro product.
It is the machine that broke them, too expensive and competing with cheap software.

After Numark purchased them, they had to sell off the remainder of the 4000 model.


It could be the 1000 was in development by akai pro before the sale also.

ah, I heard they got bought up, the new company made the z series and the 4000, then sold it... (ie: they only made the z series and 4k) ... I dont know for sure, it was stuff I read somewhere here so you can decide the validity of the story

The market has become too small for Akai to release a new mpc. I hope Akai is also aware of this fact.
Otherwise they will broaden the market by releasing a machine accesible for every bedroom producer instead of really focussing on making a professional high-end piece of equipment. Hyped up by some slick marketing just like the BeatKangz.

In all honesty I would not want to see another MPC. I can't fault my 2500 or my 1000 (apart from the 1000 has shite pads). I think they've gone as far as anyone needs on the hardware side of things. Yes, they could add the hardware so a 1TB hardrive is possible, and 8GB ram is possible, and a full LCD screen and every other useless piece of junk you don't actually need but what's the point?

The MPC is what it is because of what it is. If that makes sense. Heck, look at how old the MPC 60 is, and look at how sought after they are.

If there was another MPC to be released I would want it to be the MPC 60 with the same hardware and components as the original. But, saying that there would be a lot of pissed collectors as the value of their 60's plummet.

Please Akai ... don't release another midi controller either. The MPD 32 is what got me into MPC's in the first place. It was a great controller until I actually got the real thing. For anything on the software side of things I use the Maschine. Although a lot of you seem to knock it, it's great for Dubstep, House and 4x4.

Akai should focus on the software for the MPC's ... and make it more like JJOS with the input of the JJOS developers ... HIGHLY DOUBT THAT!!!
