Has the price gone up??

Hey, I just bought an MPC 1000 about a month ago & many of my mates suggested that I should upgrade to JJ OS.

I check out the site a couple of weeks ago but I realize in order to get JJ OS 1 I need a paypal account (that I didn't have). So I've now signed up for online banking (had to wait a couple of weeks for a card reader in order to make online transactions.. bloody Natwest)

I swear it stated a few weeks ago on the site that JJ OS 1 was $49.00 (not $59) or am I wrong? :S apologies if I am. I know the pounds going up cos of the current recession but I feel if I have to pay around £38 for an OS on top of the price I bought the MPC.. Im thinkin, is it worth it?

Oh yeah, can someone sum up quick which is better JJ OS 3.12 or Akai 2.13? (just as a free alternative)

I went on the page today as I was going to purchase it.. but I don't like this increase in price tbh (puts me off)

Coming from a (back then) first time MPC user, I used Akai 2.13 and then JJOS 3.09, and finally shelled out $50 for JJOS 1.

I would definitely say the 38 pounds is worth it!!

I think the price has gone up in order to match the value in yen of the Os.

I'm low on funds at the mo and would shell out for the JJ OS 1 sometime in the future but, to answer a question I asked before.. which is the better free alternative? AKAI 2.13 or JJ OS 3.12?

Since switching between the two OSes are relatively easy, I would suggest giving both of them a fair go. But if you just want to stick with one and run with it, I would pic the JJ0S 3.12. There are similarities in JJOS 1 that you will be familiar with already if you go ahead and start out with the free version.

JJOS 3.12 Is the best free OS.I would skip OS1 And buy OS2XL It changes the MPC into a much better midi controller /synth.

Oh man! I know it's been ages since I replied to this but I couldn't resist temptation and I copped out for JJ OS 1 just miles ahead of the AKAI OS & my workflow has improved. Thanks skeezee & TYPO!

I'm looking into the OS 2 & 2XL since I do have some money left over, is it true that OS2 basically gives your MPC 1000 all the features of a 4000?

on the 2500 i'd say you're close to getting all the features the 4k has. What os2xl gives you on the mpc1k and 25k that 4k doesnt have is ndc (non destructive chop) workflow. depending on how you use the mpc, this can be good or better than the mpc4k. 4k does not have ndc. this is a huge workflow change imho and its for the better. thats not to say either way is bad, but ndc CAN BE better for those who chop and flip samples (as opposed to loading libraries or controlling midi devices).

so i guess in the end, it depends on how you use the mpc. for me, i will never go back to 4k, 2xl, or akai os. nothing in particular against akai os, just that ndc and os2xl is better for me as far as chopping features.

I am also a "90s hiphop" sample based producer. i.e. i dig for records, flip samples, make that boom bap. love the ndc for speed and flexability.

If i owned a 4k, i probably would not go and get a 2500 or 1k, i'd stick with 4k. if i owned a mpc2xl, i'd have to think real hard. but, if i owned 1k and could afford a 2500, i'd upgrade, and if i had os1, i would for sure upgrade to os2xl, definately worht the cost.

NDC is definitely one of the best features.

It's basically chopping without chopping if that makes any sense?

It defaults to 32 chops with pad 1 being chop 1 etc. You set your start and end points for each chop but with the major advantage of being able to overlap chops in any way you want... so chop 2 could start half way into chop 1 and still play exactly how you want.

You then get the option to create a NDC program and all your chops are still fully editable in Trim. Nice.
