Track Volume?

Hey,

I'm a new MPC1k user. Maybe I'm being a bit dense here, but I haven't figured out how to adjust the volume for a track. It seems like I can only adjust volume one pad at a time. This is really frustrating, since I'd like to be able to control the levels of an entire program or (especially) midi that I send to my Waldorf Blofeld synth module. Can you offer any advice? Thanks.

You can adjust the velocity setting( V%100) on the main screen to change the volume of a track.

That doesn't seem to work for midi tracks. Any advice?

midi are just notes and they have no volume itself (only velocity).
If you want to use blofeld and control its volume from the mpc:
1)buy an external mixer
or
2)work with velocity of the notes (but it cant be set on track level...)
or
3)sample the blofeld to be wav....
or
4)check if the volume of the blofeld cant be controlled by midi cc and map it to the q-link...

depending on what OS you are using there are a few different ways of doing what you need.

I've been using JJOS 3.08. When I adjust the Velocity % for a track down to 1%, I notice no difference in volume. Am I missing something here? I'm trying to figure out how to do volume using the blofeld's midi, but I'd rather do it with the MPC so that each song has its own volume data, so I don't have to dick around with two interfaces at once for a song.

maybe try turning your record input level down because that will effect the sound also.

Hmmm. No dice. I can get some increase in volume with the velocity setting, but no real decrease in volume. Any ideas?

Nobody? I really need to figure out how to adjust volume for midi tracks.

surely midi CC-7 always corresponds to volume, so use a q-link configured to that?

also check the programs on your blofeld, maybe they have'nt velocity assigned to amp....

Hi everyone, new to this forum, and not yet an MPC owner, but I'm farming some info about mpc 1000 / 2500 (with and without JJOS), in order to know precisely if this gear would fit my needs before getting one (2500 SE + JJOSXL)

This thread interest me in some way, not about MIDI volume, but about AUDIO volume of individual tracks,

is there only the "velocity trick" to use?? (and then, what about pads using 4 velocity layers for 4 samples??? won't this velocity mod also change the samples playing, according to their velocity ranges???)

is there really NO WAY to adjust individual tracks volumes, with something like, say... a volume fader?? (lol)


I thought the MIXER mode was all about tracks, but it's about pads???


I'm gonna make a big thread to explain where I come from (musically speaking) and what I'd like to achieve, so as to group all questions that struggle me

seems that JJOSXL has a track mixer, but reading this page of JJ's "manual" is really cryptic to me (not getting the trick with "pgm" or "trk"...)

So individual track volume mixer seems available thanks to jj OS, I don't get why AKAI didn't implement a simple track mixer in the original OSes, it seems to me a basic feature of any multichannel audio device!!!!????

anyway, thanks to JJ the MPC could match my needs...

(back to writing my pre-purchase questions thread...)

The "AKAI" os were not thought for global editing. (you had a shortcut to select all the pads in a pad bank in the mixer mode though)

indeed I'm understanding that MPCs are waaay from the standard architecture / mentality I'm used to (DAWs and Grooveboxes).

Perhap's is it a wrong choice since my mind struggles to integrate its philosophy, but I'm sure I'll get it quickly when I get my unit...

I can buy a "brand new" second hand mpc 2500 with full RAM for just 850 euros, I guess it's worth it!!
