Should I take it back or what... noob question

I have a problem with my mpc droppin the beat and drums. I read about the poly/mono issue and made sure all drums and samples were mono (output as well) and 16bit format. the problem i have is the beat plays fine for a few minutes then starts to chop up on me ( including the demo version that comes on the mpc ) would the demos have this issue as well or does it sound more like a defect. i have a 128ram card in it right now. sometimes i can play a loop for 5 or 6 mins. some time it happens right when i turn it on. Even if the only thing recorded are the hats, when i lay the drums, it start to drop the hats. I checked my mute groups, mono, sample format...


Should i take it back to the store and see if they can fix it or give me another or is there something i am missing/overlooking

Did this happen before or after you installed the RAM? You might have put in a bad EXM128. Overall it should never operate like what you're saying. If this happens with just 16MB of RAM it's the MPC. If it started occurring afterwards it's definitely the RAM. I'd recommend you take out the RAM and record a 16 bar loop and just play it for a long time, see if it does the same thing. If the same thing occurs you would need to get another MPC. If it's working fine without the RAM stick it's the RAM you installed, it could be an incompatible 3rd party EXM128. Hope you get this problem solved ASAP. 1

Yea it was like this before the ram was added. It's actually the reason i bought the ram thinking well... ill need it anyway and maybe it just cant handle a drum pattern playing to long with out it. ill run by the store tomorrow and see what they can do.
