Hi guys,

I am sure that this post lies somewhere else deep within MPC Forums but i cant seem to find it.

Basically i'd like to know how to get my MPC 1000 running smoothly as a controller for Battery, i'm using Logic and just want a kind of guide on how to get it all synced up nicely through midi.

Im sorry if this has been mentioned 10000000000 times, id be more than happy if someone could just guide me to the post if you guys find one.

Thanks!

start logic, start battery as vst, create midi track in logic and put battery on it, select port your midi interface is receiving mpc on and bang away. dont get any simpler than that

Do what konc3pt said... then do yourself a HUGE favor, and make a Battery template that works with your mpc.

Basically create a new 4x4 grid. Then select 1st pad on the lower right in Battery, hit the 'learn' button. Now tap pad 1 on your mpc a couple of times. You should see the note/letter change in field next to the learn button. Click the second pad in Battery -hit learn, and now tap on pad 2 a couple of times on your MPC.

Now keep doing this until you have re-assigned all the pads in Battery. Save it, and name it MPC Template or something... Now you can load this blank template anytime you want and load/arrange your own samples across the pads in Battery the same way you would have loaded and arranged them in your MPC. It keeps things in prespective. I love it when I hit a pad on the MPC, and see the corresponding pad in Battery trigger.

You can also customize the Battery Kits to work w/your MPC, and move the pads/sounds around in Battery, but it's a pain in the butt for me... I never really bothered.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Its a bit strange though, i use Logic and have the MPC sync'd via MTC to Logic, however Logic does not recognize the MPC pads as MIDI input ???

Anyone run the same setup on a MAC that could just run me through the setup so i know everything is as it should be?

Thanks again.

I have a Battery 3 kit file I use with my MPC with 64 cells and banks A-D laid out in colored rows. It matches the JJ mapping not the random Akai original notes. This works with most MPD presets and likely the MPK's as well.
