If a MacBook Air and an MPC 2500 got it on, the results could be quite interesting. In other words, if Apple designed the next MP it would be pretty ****' sleek!

I think the next generation of MPCs will be more akin to the Jazz Mutant Lemur. Everyone is going nuts for touch screen these days, so if it ever happened I imagine it would be Akai's take on that.

In an ideal world, as most other people have said, it would be nice to combine older AD/DA converters with more modern technology. All the balls of older hardware, but the reliability of modern back up formats.

I'd also quite like to see a little Akai add on for the iPhone, a little set of keys/pads/knobs to clip onto the connector at the bottom. (I realise there's already a similar product out, but I mean an incredibly small version more akin to the LPK/LPD series)

Looks like MIDI controllers will be there new thing ..I give it a year or less until the 5000
Is discontinued and sold for $1400 or less and they will end there mpc series
I don't see then using the machine approach I can see them buying out ableton or getting bought out by ableton and making controllers

Is the 2500 still in production? I heard from a mate at my local store that they are only selling the SE versions now (the white ones with black pads). Apparently they are still producing those, but not the black ones.

i think from now on they will only be controllers made. there are a lot of people now and for awhile now actually that are perfectly fine with MIDI Controllers or FL Studio (Software)

I personally know 4 people that produce and they all use software. 2 of them have no idea what machines are like the MPC, MIDI controllers....about a month ago, one of them asked me if I made my piano track with my mixer

i was like, "Nah bro, I did that with my keyboard"

The black 2500's are out of production, and the white 2500's are only available in Japan and the UK. I called Akai USA and spoke to the head of sales, she told me they might not be released in the US because theres a bigger demand for software, whatever that means.

After the masses see Kanye West play the MPC 2000XL in the Runaway movie I'm willing to bet money that theres going to be a whole new class of people wanting to buy a MPC. MPC's are never going to die so I'm 1000% sure that we will see a new MPC in the future. Programs are cool and controllers are cool too,but theres always gonna be diehard fans.

Seen the same video on tv but it was the older grey model and not the custom painted white joint seen on the mtv or vma awards ..wonder why

This would be sooo **** sick if this will ever happen.

Just imagine that u can just dump ur complete project from the mp into Logic and can start arranging and mixing right away.

those screens would be great for showing a waveform while chopping

already discussed at viewtopic.php?f=8&t=128779&hilit=rhizome

I like the "oh look how light this is" moment... right before he actually folds it down, picks it up and thinks oh sh*t I've got to carry this beast now. Poor bloke probably looked like a broken Stretch Armstrong by the time he got out the room.

also note the edit at 1:07, how long do you think he was struggling to fold it away before they said "cut!" and then started filming again after hitting it with a hammer?
