As I'm using my Mac as a mixer these days my set up is:

MPC to eMagic USB soundcard input
Soundcard output to Cambridge hifi amp.

My speakers are Spirit Absolute 2 nearfield monitors.

EMES Pink TV nearfields

I've got them connected straight from the outs on the mpc.

I got my MPC and turntable hooked up into some shitty no name dj mixer and that goes into my old Panasonic stereo. About to get soem good headphones because I can't afford any monitors at the moment.

My mpc runs into my yamaha mixer which runs into my pc which flows out to my M-Audio BX-8 monitors.

just curious if anybody knows what brand of monitors are the ones with the black case and the white speaker? everytime i see an interview or someone in a studio on T.V. they are always there laying on their side just above the mixing console.

KRK - V6 powered monitors.
They're not bad.
I've heard better.
I've heard worse.

The acoustics of the room you're in, and speaker placement has a huge influence on what you're hearing overall, so you really can't just judge by speaker alone. You have to try to dial in your listening space too.

It is good to have a choice of speakers to listen to your tracks on, & not just good ones. A lot of big studios will have what are really just old car stereo speakers to hear what a mix will be like on a cheap radio. I switch my Absolute 2s off & listen to the speaker in my computer screen.

Those Yamaha NS10s were so popular because they were like a cross between studio monitors & ordinary hifi speakers.
