what up everybody. first off, thank you to all who take the time to educate others. I've been reading on this site for a long time and this is the first question i have that i havent been able to answer by searching. (i hope it doesn't qualify as a dumb 1). I got a mpc 5000 with protools 8 and reason 4(real original lol!). I have watched Hellfires videos (big respect! tutorial was really well done.) I followed them exactly and I have my rig set up to use reason as a sound module and record into protools. everything works great until i hit record. i'm getting sound from reason into protools being triggered by my mpc no problems. (according to videos) my mpc midi channels are set right. my reason mixer is right . I'm getting a perfect signal in protools from reason. but for some reason the sounds won't record. it's drivin me nuts, so if anyone could please throw me a bone as to what i'm doing wrong, i would be very much appreciated. thanks

okay, so i just made an audio track and bused the reason instrument track to the audio track and am now getting a recording via the audio track. is there a way to do this using only the instrument track? or is a new audio track necessary for recording each instrument track? thanks again

Do you have your Reason track's output sent to a ProTools audio track's input???

Arm the track to record...

so i need an instrument track bussed to an audio track for every sound i use in reason recorded into protools? is that right? is there a simpler pt configuration? or can i use a master track?

Its simple. Midi= no audio just computer instruction
Audio= sound from a signal source
Instrument= signal source.

You want reason as sound "bank".?? Then send signal "audio"
You want the patern created by the mpc? use midi

Sounds like pro tools needs audio track from reason and reason might need a midi track from mpc. Because you cant track into reason and thats the sound bank your using. Also pick a master out of the 3. Reason,mpc, or pt..
