MISSING EQUIPMENT?

I got Logic 9 and a MOTU MTP-AV midi interface for my MPC and my sound modules


do I ALSO need an "audio interface" in order to track both my MPC and mods to my computer?

There is work around if you have a model with USB. resample each track and drag and drop into daw using USB. for the external gear sample each track into mpc, then drag and drop.

or use the digital outs on the mpc. if you have a Mac computer then you have digital in/outs.

I have a Mac Mini, I don't see anything that would work with that

yes... re-read the first suggestion right about your last post. resample your tracks and export them as wav files to your pc thru the USB cable. the answer you need was already given to you.

^^i think he was talkin about interface recommendations.

pretty much any audio interface will work, just make sure it has 2 inputs so you can go stereo out from the mp to it.

check out m-audio's stuff if you dont want to spend too much money. alot of people say their gear is shit, but im fine with my interface i got from them. it does what i need it to do, and the preamps on it are good enough for tracking your song (line level) into it from the mpc.

for other recordings such as vocals or instruments, thats a different story.

check out the fast track pro it also has midi in/outs built into it so you could sell your midi interface and just use this.

are you talking about recording each track solo through the MAIN OUT and opening each one in Logic?

what I want to be able to do is make drums on my mpc and use external sound mods for bass, etc.

and have both connected to my Mac Mini and sync'd with Logic 9 so when I do a track with my equipment
I can immediately transfer it to Logic and see all the individual tracks

look harder - the mac mini has both USB and digital in/outs.
you alredy have all the equipment needed to get your beats into your DAW.

plus, these methods will give you a better signal than using an audio interface. the signal path is all digital. using an audio interface you have multiple analogue/digital conversions.

^ okay, I didn't know that

so if I used to the stero outs on my MPC and went to the Audio In on the Mac Mini
I could hear the drums from the mpc when I sync with Logic?

Some good ideas def have been written so far. But another solution could consist of either adding a mixer and/or using a multi-port audio interface like what was suggested for example.

And since I use a few modules, an mtp a/v and other stuff as well, it worked out better that I went the mixer/interface route.

You can also sacrifice the mixer for a patchbay, but the mixer would be a better option imo.

*also look into some mixers with f/w that work as your soundcard too*
