Saving Sequence on MPC 1000

I have a brand new MPC 1000. I dont have any upgrades at all, just what it came with.

PROBLEM!! Every time I save a program the sequence gets lost. In other words when I complete my sequence and go to save it and come back later its not there. The only thing thats there is the samples and not the sequence at all. I dont even have an option for saving a sequence. It only ask if I want to save a program or a sample. Im I doing something wrong or is the operating program that I'm using or what? The book is no help on this, it only tells me about saving programs and samples. I'm new to the MPC and have only had it a week. I have read the entire manual cover to cover. Im frustrated right because I can't keep my sequences..Please help..

Also I was thinking about updating to the JJ OS. Since im new to the MPC is it best I learn the MPC OS first or should I go ahead and get the JJ OS?

When you go to save, you should have several options, one of them is "All Memory". Use that one.

Get JJ now, there's no good reason to wait. If you learn the Akai OS first, there are things you will have to unlearn or relearn when you do get JJ.

you should have the following options when saving:
Save a Sample
Save a Program
Save all Programs & Samples
Save a Sequence
Save all Seqs & Songs
Save Entire Memory
