Cheapest, best way to record beats for mixing with mpc2000

mpc2000, no 8 output, im skeptical of my old and slow ass iomega drive, and diskettes are small. I wanna mix my beat out and then burn the cd. Is this possible with my poor budget? thanks for any help ya'll.

You can track out from mpc to computer using your stereo out
and you will need just a sound card....
then you will put everything together on the computer.
This will allow you to edit the way you want each track.

It just is very slow as you have to do that track by track...
But you can also do hard panning on the stereo outs and get 2 mono tracks per time...
You don't need 8-outs though.... even though they are handy

a mixer that records to cd or tape... check out tascam for starters

I have a sony 1/4 inch reel model tc-377.
What do you think, in terms of sound quality?

run the reel to reel at top speed, no less than 7 and 1/2, and the quality will be awesome.

Good luck finding tape. Church garage sales are great for this.

cosign, and check craigslist and value village (salvation army) cause you see tape reels pop up there too...

Hell, I have a whole box of tapes, I also have 2 brand new rolls, (5000 ft.) of Quantegy tape.

Anyway, as it relates to he original question, if you can find an old reel to reel 1/4" for dirt cheap or even free, and you can find tape, you can bounce your beats with incredible quality to tape. If you really want to go guerrilla style, you could just forget the drive all together, record beats to tape, then sample that later. Would sound great and you'd have lots of nice colouring from the tape.

Though barring luck like that, cassette is easily the cheapest way.

true i suppose... however you know what I just thought of? isn't it possible to record into ipods? I somehow remember hearing about some sort of line in capability for those and I am not talking about the alesis mixer that has the ipod dock so you can record multi tracks into it.

well I know on ipods it has a voice recorder type of thing... but isn't there a way to put a line in into it? Also the alesis thing is like a mixer interface (the usual thing they have) but this one you can record with the ipod acting like the hard drive. It has a dock on it and I believe it also utilizes the voice recorder feature... not sure though cause it's been a couple of years since I heard or saw anything to do with that.
