Aksys sum-up

Hey guys,
Love these pages, soon to acquire an MPC 4000, after a long time JJOS user (mpc 1000) was also rocking the mv 8800, but has developed major operating issues. After reading many pages here, there seems to be much confusion over the stability of aksys. What I'm really asking for is a definative answer, ie what would be the most compatible computer specs to use, just seems some people have absolutely no problems with it, so guessing its perhaps a computer hardware issue?

i've run it succesfully under 2 dell machines..the older one with xp professional (32bit) and the current is a dell with windows 7 ultimate (64bit).
The MPC usb drivers will not work with 64 bit so you have to make use of Virtual XP mode which allows for 32 bit operation. It opens up a whole virtual xp desktop within a window..within the window you would then install aksys and the usb driver.
It works though and I have aksys running succesfully alongside everything else on my computer with not too many drop-outs. It does occassionally lose connection and it doesn't seem to like transferring too many files at once but this might be down to the usb hub I'm using...i find I tend to use a usb stick in the front to load large amounts of files from the computer then use aksys to organsise them..aksys is great for building complex drum kits and editing parameters of multis etc.
I love it. And best of all is it runs in the background..ie, unlike the 1000 or 2500 you don't have to enter USB-access mode..

ps. I think windows virtual mode is only available using windows ultimate btw but i might be wrong!

thats right. I tried on windows 7 premium 64 bit, but since there is no virtual xp mode, won't work. now I just use my old laptop with xp and aksys never crashes.
